The BCMS YSC Advisory Council will be meeting Thursday, March 12th at noon in the BCMS YSC office (door 8). This meeting is open to the public.
Our BCMS Beta club is selling Chocolate Covered Strawberries to help raise money for National Convention! Sales will take place until Sunday, March 9th. 1 Dozen strawberries are $16 and a 1/2 dozen strawberries are $9. Beta students will hand dip strawberries and orders will be ready for pickup on Friday, March 14th from 2-6 pm in the BCMS Cafeteria. Please fill out the google form to order. BCMS 8th grade parents are invited to a meeting on Thursday, March 6th at 5:30 p.m., at the BCHS auditorium to learn about their student's freshman year.
BCMS Girls Soccer Open Field days begin on March 13th. Tryouts will be on March 24th. For more information, email Coach Little at zoie.little@barren.kyschools.us
BCMS Beta will be hosting a Spring Fling Dance on March 15th from 5-7 pm. Tickets will be $10 per person and can be purchased in Mrs. Earls's room starting March 10 and running through March 13th. Tickets may only be purchased in morning and afternoon homeroom. School dress code applies. We will be selling drinks, chips, pizza, dippin dots, and hand spun cotton candy. The dance is only open to BCMS students. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Earls. We hope to see you there!
The BCMS Volleyball team and Beta Club are so excited to announce that they are hosting the second annual Teddy Bear Throw! On March 6th, join us for a fun night of volleyball and serving others. Bring in a new or gently used teddy bear and get free admission. Teddy Bears will benefit the Barren County Sheriff, Social Services and Drug Court, who gift each child who comes into their care with a teddy bear. We will throw the bears on the court sometime during the game! #WeareBC

Yesterday was Day 1 of conducting an investigation into cells in Mrs. Earls's science class. Students read about cell theory, reviewed the characteristics of life, and looked at cells under a microscope!

Recently BCMS recognized their teachers of the year. All of these educators were nominated by their fellow teachers. In addition to being named BCMS teachers of the year, Katie Earls and Sara Vetter were recognized by the Barren County School district as exemplary educators. It’s been an exciting week in Ms. Vetter's art room ! Thanks to funding from the Kentucky Arts Council, the Barren County Alumni Association, and Barren County Education Association, artist Jesse Sims has been in residence at BCMS doing an acrylic painting workshop. Students have spent the past two days learning techniques while working on a guided landscape, and now students will spend the next three days developing a painting of their own using those techniques.
Jesse has shared so much of his talent and knowledge! It’s been awesome hearing students express their pride and excitement about what they have created and learned. BCMS can’t wait to see what they come up with for their personal piece!

Two BCMS 8th graders will be competing at Green Hill, TN tomorrow with the BCHS winterguard.
Students in Mrs. Earls's 7th grade science class investigated force fields by playing magnet battleship! Students had to find their opponent’s magnets by feeling for the magnetic pull to the magnets using a paperclip.
