Family Resource Centers were created as part of the Kentucky Education Reform Act and are a division of the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
The intent of the Western Barren County Family Resource Center is to enhance our student's abilities to succeed in school by providing needed services and linking families to community agencies.
The intent of the Western Barren County Family Resource Center is to enhance our student's abilities to succeed in school by providing needed services and linking families to community agencies.
Services offered by the Western Barren County Family Resource Center include:
- Assistance with full-time preschool child care for children 2 and 3 years of age
- Assistance with after-school child care for children ages 4-12
- Families in Training, which consists of home visits, group meetings, and monitoring child development for new and expectant parents
- PACE-like Family Literacy, providing opportunities for parents and their children (ages birth-18) to learn together
- Health Services or referrals to Health Services
- Assistance with Basic Needs
- Christmas Assistance
- Educational Support
- Back to School Bash
- School Newsletter
- Divorce Support Groups for school-age children
- Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group
- Character Programs
- Red Ribbon Week Programs
